Based on the results of and feedbacks from customers, this evaluation objectively rated each quality grades. The following are the results.
Original, Super OEM screens feature the best quality, but the price is too expensive and the supply is relatively limited; If you care about the original IC, then we recommend OEM quality. If you care about the original flexible OLED display, we suggest OEM with Copy IC high-end. If you are looking for a cost-effective solution, then HO3 3D in-cell touch solution can be your best choice.

- What is the difference among Flexible OLED, Rigid OLED and LCD?
OLED stands for Organic Light-Emitting Diode. An OLED display is essentially made up of an organic carbon-based film hooked up to a pair of electrodes. Those electrodes pass a current through the film, causing the individual pixels within it to light up. This latter point is the key difference between OLED and LCD technology. LCD requires an additional backlight component to create an image, whereas the pixels in a self-contained OLED display light up individually. And the simple difference between Flexible OLED and Rigid OLED is that the material is glass or soft film.

Different display panel requires different raw material solutions, which means the structure of iPhone X screen will be affected. We will show you a detailed test review.
The IC scheme affects the screen stability and display performance. For iPhone X screen with OEM Flexible OLED, original IC and compatible IC are available for choice. Display + touch flex cable solutions:
The display + touch flex cable solutions affect the display and touch stability. Undoubtedly, the original + original solution brings the best stability. And for the solution with copy parts, the stability will be affected largely by various aspects such as the welding process and the parts quality. And the difference can be easily distinguished from the appearance. (see from)
Frame + cover lens + polarizer solutions:
Except for Original quality, the rest quality grades all apply the copy cover and frame. Therefore, the differences from the appearance are not very notable. As for the polarizer solution, if the assembly comes with original flexible OLED display panel, then the polarizer is original. And the view angle of all the quality grades listed are full view.
Due to the difference in the IC solutions, the touch + display flex cable solutions, and the display panel scheme, there are visible differences in the appearance from different quality iPhone X screens. You can distinguish the different quality screens from the following areas on appearance.
- IC + Green Flex Cable at the Bottom
- IC + touch and the display cable
Some quality grades use copy ICs and cable, which can be easily tell from appearance.
- Upper Notch & Bottom Chin
The size, edge, and curve of the back-side notch are quite different. And when you light up the screen, it’s easy to figure out the difference on the bottom chin among different qualities.
Measurement and Installation
Due to differences in materials, structures, solutions, and processing, the assembly differ in size, thickness, and weight. And it furtherly causes the difference in installation performance. From the above test data, among the quality grades with original flexible OLED panel, the OEM with Copy IC high-end has a better fit that close to the original screens. Among the compatible solutions, HO3 and GX are closer to the original installation performance.
- Color tone & Display Panel Brightness
The display performance is affected by display panel solution, and OLED display is light emitting by each pixel, it derived and controlled by display controller IC, so the IC solution will play important role on display performance.
Due to the difference in the material of the display panel, the brightness of the OLED screens is generally higher than the LCD screens. The display color of HO3 iPhone X screen is vivid, even better than some OEM OLED screens.
- Viewable Area
With OLED displays, the controller for the display is at the bottom, Apple folded the display, the “bottom” of the display is facing inwards towards the device, such that adding the controller on the bottom doesn’t require a chin for original iPhone X screen.
As shown in the above photo, the lip of the display that comes up is where the controller connects to it, showing that the controller doesn’t need to be at the bottom of the device if the display is folded. But for glass material display, it cannot be folded, so it takes up some room on the bottom of the display, resulting in the chins for all glass material display including rigid OLED, TFT LCD and HO3 3D in-cell touch LCD.
The TFT LCD and HO3 3D in-cell touch LCD require backlight module as light source. so, it is necessary to reserve space for the assemble backlight around the display, resulting in viewable area reduction.
- View angle
All of them are with full view angle in polarizer testing. That’s the good news for us.
The iPhone X OLED screen applies out-cell technology for the touch function, so as to TFT LCD screen. and HO3 adopts 3D In-cell technology. It combines the liquid crystal, touch sensing elements and 3D touch capacitive sensors into a single structure. The thinner panel makes touch feedback more accurate and ensures outstanding response when the screen is touched by fingers. The integration gives HO3 screens great touch function performance.
For the iOS 12 compatibility, face ID, proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, the test results show no problems. And one thing should be noted that iPhone X will lose true tone once the screen was replaced, even with original screen replacement in iOS 12
